Even a hit man named Dennis (Alec Baldwin) gives the duo some trouble as he’s been sent by Plankton to exterminate the two with his spiked boots. And so Spongebob and Patrick begin their harrowing adventure to retrieve the royal headwear, facing thugs, hideous singing monsters, a deep sea diver that they mistaken for a cyclops, and even getting some helpful assistance from David Hasselhoff (playing himself) as he’s able to give the two a ride back home on his back, combined with his powerful swimming skills. He reluctantly agrees and gives the two 10 days (until after, being humorously shorten to 6). Before he can do so, his daughter Mindy (Scarlett Johansson) suggests that Krabs employee Spongebob and his friend Patrick go and retrieve the crown from the forbidden city. He does so, and Neptune is fuming in underwater fire, and prepares to burn Krabs on the spot. Hoping to gain notoriety - as well as world domination - he uncovers one of his unused evil villain schemes (referred to as Plan Z ), which involves him stealing the crown of King Neptune (Jeffrey Tambor), sending it to the forbidden Shell City, and framing Mr. Doug Lawrence) looks upon his opponent’s success with jealousy as his establishment The Chum Bucket, has not had a single customer in ever. As he thinks that a person with that much responsibility needs to acquire a level of maturity, both Spongebob and his best friend Patrick Star (Bill Fagerbakke) are more comfortable in enjoying childlike entertainment - specifically a Chuck E Cheese corporation known as Goofy Goobers - and thus is denied the promotion. Krabs bestows the manager title to Spongebob’s grouchy neighbor Squidward Tentacles (Rodger Bumpass). Though things do not go according to expectations on the part of Spongebob, as Mr. Eugine Krabs (Clancy Brown), will make his announcement for the manager of the new franchise installment of The Krusty Krab restaurant (un-originally referred to as The Krusty Krab 2 ). So with the release of The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, the writers and creator Stephen Hillenburg, expressed their feelings on the subject of adults passion for childlike pleasures - so long as they were intelligent and self aware.ĭeep below the ocean floor lies the city of Bikini Bottom and residing in “a pineapple under the sea,” is of course Spongebob Squarepants (Tom Kenny). It only cares about delivering really smart and creative jokes. But Spongebob I feel (at least, again, in its early seasons) has never been so concerned with which audience it’s suppose to appeal towards. “Spongebob Squarepants” was a massive hit back in its early seasons, being able to appeal to kids and adults alike is no easy feat due in large part to its self aware tone and surrealist humor. And while it is important to maintain some educational programming for children, as long as the dumb fun they’re watching can also be enjoyed by adults, I see no wrongdoing. It was disgusted by them, and figured it would make their children dumber from repeated exposure. Though a theory like this was not to far off from how PC parents viewed the show back in its prime. I always discourage of this mentality because it implies that the show, “Spongebob Squarepants” is sending a satanic message towards kids, even though nothing about the show’s world and tone have anything to do with religious meanings. Krabs is greed, Plankton is Envy, Sandy is pride, Patrick is sloth, Squidward is wrath, Gary is gluttony, and Spongebob himself is (maybe) lust. There’s been a really dumb theory spreading around for a long time about how each of the Spongebob characters are secretly embodiments of the 7 deadly sins.
